Red Bull Hardline is the world’s hardest downhill mountain bike race. It’s held at Dyfi Bikepark and designed by Gee Atherton’s brother, Dan. Every year, the track is tweaked to be bigger, gnarlier, and scarier. In 2024, Red Bull challenged enduro motocross rider Johnny Walker to see if he could ride the Hardline course faster than a mountain biker. The goal was to beat Jackson Goldstone’s time of 2:20 minutes.
With help from downhill racer Matt Jones, Johnny had to work out how to cope with the steep gradients, tight turns, and huge jumps. Realizing his motorbike wasn’t as nimble as the burliest downhill mountain bike, he knew he had a lot of work to do. But, as you’ll see, his hard work paid off, even though he had never been so scared.
