They also have soft silicone strips for a secure fit, so they don’t slip down to your ankles, even when wet. Ideal for local rides and all-day pedals, these knee pads balance protection and comfort without the bulk of heavy-duty options.
Protection
IXS has given the Flow knee pads X-Matter center caps. X-Matter is a flexible, yet protective covering made of a malleable viscoelastic polymer. It forms around your knees and protects them time and again, so they should last a long time, even if you have a habit of parting ways with your bike often.
While I haven’t had to test them in a crash, their design and feel give me confidence they’ll perform well. Additionally, these pads stay in place even on long, bumpy descents, ensuring the protective parts remain where they should be during a fall.

While not as bulky as some pads, the Flow knee pads offer good coverage and breathability. Their lightweight design makes them comfortable to wear and pack. For more extreme conditions, you might still want heavier pads with more coverage. Still, the IXS Flow knee pads are a fantastic addition to your gear for everyday use.
